TERRY COUNTY, TX - A Brownfield woman was killed and three children were injured in a two vehicle crash in far northern Terry County Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 385, near County Road 200, approximately 13 miles north of Brownfield.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident involved a semi-truck and a minivan.
The semi-truck was northbound on the highway, entering a curve. The minivan was southbound, in the curve, when the vehicle crossed the center stripe.
The semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the collision by moving right but was unsuccessful. The minivan struck the left side of the semi-truck and its trailer.
The crash caused the semi to roll over on its right side in a ditch on the east side of the highway. The minivan came to rest upright in the northeast ditch.
Martha Lou Depoyster, 52, of Brownfield was killed in the accident. Depoyster was identified by the DPS as the driver of the minivan.
Two children in the minivan, a three-year-old and a nine-year-old, were transported to Covenant Hospital in Levelland.
A third child, nine-years-old, was transported to Brownfield Regional Medical Center.
DPS said all three children suffered non-incapacitating injuries and were listed in stable condition.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
