LUBBOCK, TX -- Friends and family of Covenant Medical Center emergency room nurse Kim Bradley will hold a fundraiser lunch for her benefit Thursday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm near the Covenant ER entrance.

According to the Facebook page “Prayers for Kim Bradley” there will be hotdogs or hamburgers, chips and soft drinks for $5.00.  T-shirts will be $20 and other donations will be accepted.

A message from Bradley on that same page said, “Blood testing and cat scan of my abdomen/pelvis showed a large cancerous tumor totally engulfing my right kidney and is growing up into my inferior vena cava.”

Having cancer near the vena cava means she will need open heart surgery.

“With no surgery my death will come quickly and the surgery is very risky. I will have to have my chest split open,” Bradley wrote.

On Saturday Bradley also wrote, “This will be the fight of my life. Time to bring my A game.”

An email circulated among Lubbock Police Officers said she is married with children and “This cancer diagnosis was not expected.”
