George's Hit by SUV – Second Time in Two Years

LUBBOCK, TX - Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to George’s Restaurant in the 5400 block of 4th Street Tuesday a few minutes after noon.

At least one person was taken by EMS.  An employee said an SUV just smashed through the front of the restaurant suddenly.  It backed up and then came back in even faster.  Someone in the restaurant reached into the vehicle to take the keys out.  The driver stayed on the scene, according to a reporter on the scene.

"I came back and saw the car as she was backing out and then she backed out, hit a car and then she pretty much floored it back into the building," said George's employee Bryana Grabowski.

Grabowski has worked at George's Restaurant for six years. She was working back in 2016 when the first car ran into the restaurant.

"I really hope it doesn't happen again," she said.

George’s is the same location that was hit by a car last year.  There were three moderate injuries in the situation last year.

Employees hope the property owners will put up a guardrail in front of the parking spots to prevent this from happening again.
