LUBBOCK, TX -- The Texas Department of Transportation will close the northbound and southbound main lanes of Interstate 27 from mile marker 9 to mile marker 11 on Tuesday afternoon. The closure will allow state Troopers with Texas Department of Public Safety to conduct accident reconstruction as part of their investigation of a deadly crash.

“All I-27 traffic will be detoured onto the frontage roads,” TxDOT said in a written statement.

The main lane closures are scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm and the roadway should reopen by 4:00 pm according to TxDOT.

The written statement does not say which deadly crash is under investigation.  However, on March 26 a woman died in a one-vehicle rollover along a particular stretch of Interstate 27 that is consistent with the temporary lane closure.
