LUBBOCK, TX -- A judge ruled Tuesday morning that five dogs and a cat will remain in the custody of Animal Services after allegations of neglect.  The dogs were taken from house in the 4200 block of 51st Street on July 5.  One dog looked emaciated.  Another was dead the back yard of the home.

City of Lubbock Animal Control Services said Tuesday that the owners did not show up for the court hearing, and the case remains under investigation.  A citation or a criminal charge might be possible.  Officers with Animal Control responded when neighbors complained that the dogs were neglected when the owners left the home.

Animal Control said there has been interest in adopting the pets that were confiscated.
