LEVELLAND, TX -- Levelland has a housing shortage according to the Levelland & Hockley County News-Press. The paper reported on its website Thursday that “available housing in Levelland remains in short supply.”

The article described a tight market for both renters and buyers. It also cited an MLS or Multiple Listing Service as saying there are 51 homes for sale in Levelland – “perhaps half the number that might have been on the market 5-10 years ago.”

The paper cites lower unemployment as one factor. The Bureau of Labor statistics recently released information showing that wages in Hockley County at $913 per week on average are second only to Yoakum County with a weekly average wage of $994.
