According to Abilene Police Department records, police responded to a Stripes convenience store in Abilene in response to a reported disturbance.
Upon arrival, police discovered a female under the age of 17 who had been both physically and sexually assaulted. According to the report, the female had injuries to her lips, nose and face, including a fractured jaw.
The victim said that not only did her attacker physically assault her, but he also threatened her in such as way that put her in fear for her life.
She was taken to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment.
At the hospital, genetic evidence was taken, and this evidence matched with previous genetic evidence that had been entered into the Texas Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), matching that of Jose Ramirez.
The victim’s description of her assailant also matched that of Ramirez, who was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
