LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) – Lemonade Day is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the Lubbock Independent School District, empowering thousands of today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.

As part of their social studies curriculum, 100 percent of LISD third-grade students will study the Lemonade Day workbook, as well as be encouraged to find a mentor, take advantage of the workshops and much like a science fair project, get the real life experience of starting, owning and operating their very own business - a lemonade stand.

In addition, Lemonade Day community leaders and sponsors will come alongside teachers to provide business advice and Q&A time for young entrepreneurs in the classroom to ask questions about starting their own business.

“We are committed to ensuring our students learn the real life lessons of setting goals, planning, budgeting, banking, collaborating, sales, customer service and the value of hard work,” noted Joni Rodela Social Studies Coordinator for Lubbock ISD. “Entrepreneurship is a great way for students to experience many of these lessons in a tangible way, and no one is doing that better than Lubbock Lemonade Day.”

“We are so excited to partner with LISD,” added Lemonade Day City Champion and respected business leader Ron Betenbough. “Being able to help teach every third grader in LISD schools where money comes from, how to make it for themselves, then spend some, save some and share some is truly a win/win.”

Each LISD child receives a backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook and the information needed to start their new business. Children keep all the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some. Last year, 600 new businesses were started on a single day and thousands of dollars were donated back to local Lubbock charities.
