LPD Called to Shooting Scene Monday Afternoon in Central Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX - At around 2:35 p.m. Monday, Lubbock Police were called to the 2100 block of Avenue O for the report of a shooting.

Police were also on the scene of 1500 24th Street but it's not confirmed if the two scenes were related to each other. Police were on scene Monday afternoon at the second location, and blocked off that area to the public.

"An officer was already in the area and heard the shots," police said Monday afternoon.

"Officers located an injured female in the area of 2400 Avenue N. She was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries."

"Our SWAT officers were called to assist," LPD said.  "Everyone was asked to exit a nearby apartment, and officers searched and cleared the building."

Neighbor, Robert Estrada said a lot of folks living in the area are tired of seeing continued violence and drug use. Especially with Bean Elementary up the road, he said, children frequently walk around on the surrounding streets.

"We need to stand up and fight back against all the drugs and all this gang activity, because you know people have kids around here," Estrada said.
