Lubbock 3rd Graders Get Fun Lesson in Laundry

LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) - Brown Elementary received a much-needed new washer and dryer set from Conn’s HomePlus today, and students celebrated the donation by learning how to do laundry and participating in a fun “laundry relay race.”

Conn’s HomePlus previously donated washer-dryer units to schools in Dallas and Jackson, Mississippi. The aim of the program is to support schools in need so students without a home washer and dryer have access to clean clothes to promote school attendance.

At the event, Brown Elementary Buffaloes students wore “Fresh. Clean. Buffs.” t-shirts to compete in a fast-paced laundry relay race where the kids cycled through a series of stations of separating laundry, filling the washer and folding shirts. Conn’s and a Brown Elementary teacher also taught the the laundry lesson to encourage the kids how they can help out at home as summertime nears.

The event closed with an ice cream party — and with any necessary chocolate stain treatment of the kids' shirts.
