LUBBOCK, TX -- A Lubbock family-practice doctor was among 61 physicians disciplined by the Texas Medical Board according to a statement released last week. Samuel A. Hale Jr. agreed to complete four hours of continuing education in risk management.

Public records said Dr. Hale used the wrong eye drops on a patient.

“[Dr. Hale] was candid with the board and admitting his responsibility,” a TMB order said. “[Dr. Hale] reached out to the patient's family, accepted responsibility for his actions, and paid the patient’s medical bills as a result of the incident.”

Official records said the patient suffered no permanent damage to his retinas.
