LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) - Lubbock Habitat for Humanity is hosting the Habitat for Humanity RV Care-A-Vanners from October 29 - November 11. The Care-A-Vanners are working alongside Habitat Lubbock volunteers, prospective homeowners, and construction staff to build Habitat homes. While in Lubbock, the Care-A-Vanners will be working primarily at 3503 E. 13th Street.
"Habitat Lubbock is excited to host these individuals. These are very skilled individuals. One unique fact about this group, is one of the volunteer has ties to Lubbock. As a child, he and his family would visit relatives in Lubbock. Habitat for Humanity RV Care-A-Vanners is a volunteer program for anyone who travels in a recreational vehicle and wants to build Habitat houses and have fun doing it. RV Care-A-Vanners welcomes people of all ages, from all walks of life, who want to pick up a hammer and help change lives," stated Marie Hanza, Executive Director for Habitat Lubbock. "Habitat Lubbock is looking forward to hosting these individuals and appreciate their volunteering with us to build Habitat homes. This is the first time for these individuals to volunteer in Lubbock," Hanza concluded.
The individuals coming to Lubbock are from Elgin, Texas, Allyn, Washington, Box Elder, South Dakota, San Clemente, California, and Bartlett, Illinois. Lubbock RV Park and Happy State Bank are working with Habitat Lubbock to support these volunteers during their visit to Lubbock.

Starting with just a handful of builds in 1988, the RV Care-A-Vanner program has grown to encompass nearly 2,000 active volunteers traveling to more than 200 builds per year in more than 75 locations across the U.S. and Canada. RV Care-A-Vanners share a common mission to further the work of Habitat for Humanity through advocacy and by assisting Habitat affiliates in accelerating or supplementing their building and rebuilding programs.
A specialized program
- Participate in new construction, home rehabilitation or repair and neighborhood revitalization projects; volunteer in the office and ReStore; and assist with any other needs an affiliate may have.
- Help Habitat affiliates raise the awareness of poverty housing and homelessness by speaking to churches, civic groups and local media.
- Travel at their own expense.
