LUBBOCK, TX -- The Lubbock Habitat for Humanities held a recognition Friday morning in honor of Gene Messer Automotive Group, Lubbock Truck Sales Inc., and University Trails Apartments.  Donations from the three made it possible for Lubbock Habitat to hold a “Summer Blowout Sale” of 1,300 pieces of “gently used” furniture to further a good cause.

Habitat is a Christian organization that builds safe, affordable housing for low to moderate-income people.

The “Summer Blowout Sale” continues daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm until August 2 at 3907 Avenue Q.  The furniture includes dining tables and chairs; sofas, side chairs, coffee tables, and end tables.

Gene Messer donated the use of building; Lubbock Truck Sales donated the use of equipment and manpower, and University Trails donated furniture.

“Lubbock Habitat very much appreciates the support given by these Lubbock businesses,” said Marie Hanza, Executive Director of Lubbock Habitat for Humanity.  “Because of the generous donations from the Gene Messer Auto Group, Lubbock Truck Sales and Service, and University Trails Apartments, our expenses are being kept to a minimum.”

In 26 years, Lubbock Habitat for Humanity has built 127 homes at cost for those in need.
