LUBBOCK, TX -- The City of Lubbock sales tax payment for August was up 4.46 percent compared to August of 2013, according a report last week from the Texas Comptroller.  The city was paid $5,837,479.33 for the month and $41,602,580.34 year-to-date.

In that same report Lubbock County’s sales tax payment was up 5.77 percent for August.  Sales tax collections are an important measure of economic health because they indicate consumer activity in local stores.
