Lubbock's Unemployment Rate Holds Steady in May 2017

LUBBOCK, TX - Lubbock's unemployment rate held steady at 3.2 percent during the month of May, according to statistics released on Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission.

An estimated 154,700 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area (MSA) were employed last month.

The unemployment rate one year ago was slighly lower at 3.1 percent.

The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.1 percent.

The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission MSA had the highest unemployment rate at 7.5 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate fell to 4.8 percent in May.
