LUBBOCK, TX - Lubbock's unemployment rate rose during the month of January, according to job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission.
The local unemployment rate was reported at 3.1 percent, up from the reported 2.7 percent in December.
An estimated 156,100 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area (MSA) were employed during the month. The civilian labor force was estimated at 161,100.
Lubbock's unemployment in January 2017 was measured at 3.4 percent.
The unemployment rate in Texas rose slightly in January to 4.0 percent.
The Texas Workforce Commission will release the job statistics for the month of February on March 23.
