PLAINVIEW, TX -- Jose Luis Aguilar, 41, goes on trial Monday for a 1992 murder according to the Plainview Daily Herald. The Herald described Aguilar as “21 years on the run” after the shooting death of Guadalupe Fraire, 27, in Plainview.

Authorities believed that Aguilar likely had fled to Mexico following the shooting. However, more recently tips led officers to Aguilar’s wife in a suburb of Denver, Colorado.

The Herald said, “Aguilar was apprehended by Hale County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Lubbock Fugitive Ops team once tips led authorities to Colorado.”

Jury selection begins Monday, and the Herald said Aguilar is held in the Hale County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond.
