KRESS, TX - The Texas Rangers continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Swisher County on Thursday.
According to the DPS, an off-duty Swisher County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a subject at a residence in Kress. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m.
The Swisher County Sheriff's Office has now identified the deputy involved in the shooting as James Boyd.
Boyd is currently on administrative leave.
The subject, Garrell Byrd, 33, of Kress, died from his injuries while being transported by EMS.
