MORTON, TX -- Early Thursday evening the Cochran County Sheriff’s Office released the names of three people who died in a plane crash Wednesday. The victims were the pilot, Thomas Joseph Taylor of Abilene, and his passengers, Matthew Axtell and David Bradley Patton – both of Colorado.

An official cause has not been released, but the single-engine plane was flying through a severe storm at the time of the crash. Officials have said the weather might have been a factor. The flight was headed from Aspen, Colorado to Brenham, Texas at the time of the crash.

Officials in Cochran County were holding the scene of the crash until the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board could begin their investigation.
