Pflugerville Man Wants Out of Lubbock Jail, Charged with Possessing Marijuana

LUBBOCK, TX - Troy Allen Hess, 23, of Pflugerville filed court documents Thursday in an attempt to get out of jail until his trial date for possession of marijuana.  He was held Friday in the Lubbock County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000.

The request is for a hearing and then for a judge to reduce his bond. A judge has not ruled on the request as of early Friday afternoon.

According to his request and his jail booking sheet, Hess was charged with a category of marijuana possession between 50 and 2,000 pounds.  EverythingLubbock.com reached out to the Texas Department of Public Safety for more details.  DPS said Hess had 64 pounds of material that “is believed” to be marijuana.

Court records said he was arrested by a DPS Trooper on the evening of April 30 along U.S. Highway 84 in Shallowater.

“The vehicle was traveling east and was stopped for a traffic violation,” DPS said.  “The Trooper called for the K-9 dog and the dog alerted on the … passenger vehicle trunk area.”

“Hess was coming from Colorado en-route to Austin area,” DPS also said.
