SWISHER COUNTY, TX -- A Plainview man has died following a farming mishap in Swisher County.

According to MyPlanview.com, 57-year-old Paul Raymond was working on a tractor on this farm southwest of Tulia near the Castro County line. A hydraulic cylinder holding the tractor up failed, causing it to fall. Raymond was crushed by the equipment before he could escape.

Swisher County Justice of the Peace Dora Smith declared Raymond dead at the scene around 7:30 a.m. on July 30. The exact time of the accident had not been determined on Thursday. He was last seen Tuesday, and family members assumed that he was working late into the night when he didn’t come home that evening.

After Raymond failed to return to his Plainview Wednesday morning, his brother began searching for him, Wells said. He discovered his brother’s body after reaching the farm.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
