Police Release Video of Car Chase

LUBBOCK, TX – Police have released a statement on the Tuesday car chase that led police through Cooke Park after trying to stop suspect Chazric Simms, 18, an escapee from a community correction facility.

According to a press release officers began the chase when the suspect refused to stop after driving a black Chevy Silverado across a front lawn on 30th Street.

The suspect then drove a few streets down and went straight through Alex and Verna Cooke Park. From the police dashboard camera officers are seen chasing the suspect through a playground and a basketball court before exiting the park and following the suspect on foot.

Later officers found the suspect on a roof at the 6200 block of 13th Street. A K9 officer was then used to force the suspect to the ground according to the police statement.

Simms has been charged with evading a vehicle, evading on foot, criminal trespass and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
