RALLS, TX -- The Ralls Rage 12 & under softball team has made local history by becoming the first local team to advance as close as they have to their particular league’s World Series.

“We’re not only the first team in Ralls history but District 38 for softball to play their way into the state tournament,” Clint Yocom, the team’s coach, said. “By winning sectionals we advanced to the state tournament with four other teams.”

Yocom also said, “These girls have really come together and worked hard - so resilient. We’re always the smaller team but they always compete hard and just find a way to win.”

Yocum described District 38 as going from Amarillo to Lubbock to Midland.

Yocum said, “Usually it’s tough for a small community like this to compete against the bigger communities like Lubbock.”

The team will play July 17 in San Antonio and, if successful, the next step would be to play teams from eight states in Waco. From there, it would be on to the World Series.

The girls will host a car wash in Ralls Saturday, July 12 along Highway 82. Yocom said there would be signs directing people to the car wash.

Yocum is also taking donation to help the team make the trip to San Antonio and his number 806-632-0231. The team can also be contacted via its Facebook page.
