LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) - The following is a news release from the Lubbock Area United Way:
United Way Campaign Chair Jon Stephens announced today that through the generosity of thousands in our community, Lubbock Area United Way reached its Annual Campaign goal with $6,103,061 contributed. More than 700 people were in attendance at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall to hear the announcement.
“I am humbled by the giving spirit and generosity of the people of West Texas,” said Stephens. “Each and every one of you are part of what makes Lubbock such a special place to live: We are Lubbock.”
The campaign total is 100.2% of the campaign goal of $6,091,976, announced in August. In United Way’s more than 70 year history, individuals and businesses in the Lubbock area have given more than $176.5 million to support human service organizations serving Lubbock and communities in the surrounding area.
“Today is not about the number after the dollar sign. It is about the thousands of lives that will be impacted as a result,” said Stephens.
Loaned Executive Chair Seth Schulz recognized the volunteers in the Loaned Executive Division for their work in assisting more than 200 businesses with employee campaigns. The Loaned Executive and JumpStart divisions were responsible for employee campaigns that contributed more than $3.4 million, which is 56.3% of campaign total.
The program also included recognition of Speakers’ Bureau volunteers by Marketing Chair Meredith Imes for their work in making presentations to more than 7,000 people this year.
