Severe Storms Northwest of Lubbock Spawn Tornado Warnings

LUBBOCK, TX -- Multiple tornado warnings were issued for the Curry County, NM area Friday evening. Tennis-ball-sized hail was reported south of Farewell sometime around 7:30 pm. Hail almost 2 inches in diameter was reported in Farwell. A tornado warning was then issued for Bailey County effective until 8:00 pm, and a separate tornado warning was also issued for parts of Roosevelt County, NM.

“A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 6 miles southwest of Farwell,” the National Weather Service said as part of the tornado warning for Bailey County.

The storm was moving generally southeast at 20 miles per hour.
