NEW DEAL, TX -- New Deal and Abernathy fire departments responded to a house fire in the 100 block of East Hardin Street in New Deal Monday afternoon. No one in the house was injured and no firefighters suffered injuries or heat exhaustion – which was certainly possible with high temperatures of 100 degrees on Monday.

Firefighters were called at 4:09 pm, and the fire was completely out in less than an hour. According to the New Deal Volunteer Fire Department the cause of the fire might have been an electrical problem. Information was not immediately available on how many people might have been displaced by the fire.
