Smiley Named New Principal at Smylie Wilson Middle School

LUBBOCK, TX -- The Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Thursday named Kelly Smiley as the new principal for Smylie Wilson Middle School. Smiley is currently the principal at Centennial Elementary School for the 2013/2014 school year.

“Born in Lubbock, Smiley attended College in Arizona and Florida before returning to Lubbock to continue her educational career and graduate studies at Texas Tech,” a written statement from Lubbock ISD said.

Smiley served as a classroom teacher from 1992 until 1997 at Guadalupe Elementary. Later she was Bozeman Elementary Principal and Maedgen Elementary Principal.

Also on Thursday the board named Theresa Williams, Ed.D., of Garland ISD as the Deputy Superintendent for Academic Services.

“A West Texas native, Williams grew up in Plainview and met her husband at while attending Texas Tech University,” the LISD written statement said. “She is married and has two sons, one of which is starting college; the other will attend Lubbock ISD.”
