SNYDER, TX --  A Scurry County jury on Friday sentenced James Smith of Snyder to 99 years in prison in the shooting death of his 26 year old daughter in October 2012. The jury had earlier convicted Smith of the murder following a week-long trial.

Investigators say Smith shot both his daughter and his wife during an argument at their home in the 1300 block of 23rd Street. Smith was still at the home when officers arrived. His wife was taken to a Lubbock hospital with critical injuries.

Smith still faces charges of Aggravated Assault involving the shooting of his wife.
