Spirit of '45 Day at the Silent Wings Museum Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) - The Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, Texas will celebrate the Spirit of ‘45 Day on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Spirit of ’45 Day provides an opportunity for America to say “Thank you!” to those who served in uniform and those who supported them on the home front during the WWII era.

In 2010, Congress unanimously voted in favor of a national “Spirit of ’45 Day” to preserve and honor the legacy of the men and women of the World War II generation so that their example of national unity, shared sacrifice, can-do attitude, and service to their community and country will continue to inspire future generations of Americans.

Spirit of ’45 Day is now being observed in hundreds of communities throughout America, with events and activities in public parks, community centers, museums, memorials, senior living communities and during Major League Baseball games all across the United States.

Sunday, August 13 events include:

1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
 - Free museum admission
- Children’s activities: Dress like a soldier, Bunker Blast game and more!
