LUBBOCK, TX - The family of Luke Siegel was presented with a check Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the first annual Team Luke Tennis Classic.
The USTA Pro Circuit Collegiate Series event brought professional women's tennis to Lubbock for one week.
The Team Luke Tennis Classic was held at the McLeod Tennis Center on the Texas Tech University campus.
A check in the amount of $65,000 was presented to Luke Siegel's medial fund following the championship final. The money came from proceeds raised during the event.
During the check presentation, the Siegel family announced the formation of the Team Luke Foundation.
The Team Luke Foundation will benefit families with children suffering from traumatic brain injuries. All proceeds from next year's planned tennis classic will go to the foundation.
On July 28, 2015, Luke Siegel was critically injured in a golf cart accident and suffered life threatening head and chest trauma. Luke battled for his life as a result of his TBI, traumatic brain injury and anoxic brain injury, but defied the odds and survived.
