One in Custody Following High Speed Chase Across Lubbock & Crosby County Sunday Evening

LUBBOCK COUNTY & CROSBY COUNTY, TX - One person was taken into custody following a high speed chase across portions of Lubbock and Crosby County Sunday evening.

Authorities said the chase began at U.S. Highway 87 and 98th Street around 7:40 p.m. when the DPS attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation.

The vehicle then fled the scene down 98th Street where the passenger reportedly jumped from the vehicle in the area of 98th Street and County Road 2500.

The driver then continued to evade DPS, the Lubbock Police Department and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office across the southeast, east and northeast portions of the city.

The pursuit then headed east down Farm-to-Market Road 40 out of Lubbock County and into western Crosby County.

The DPS said the driver then proceeded south on Farm-to-Market Road 378 where the chase eventually ended around 8:25 p.m.

Authorities said the driver was taken into custody without incident, however, the passenger has not been located. 

The driver was identified by the DPS as Leslie Overstreet, 28, of Lubbock.

According to Lubbock County Detention Center records, Overstreet  is charged with evading in a vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, tampering/fabricating evidence, possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation.
