Two Killed, One Injured in Mitchell Co. Oil Field Accident

MITCHELL COUNTY, TX -- An oil field accident Tuesday near Westbrook killed two men and has left another man recovering in a Lubbock Hospital.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office reports the crew was moving a pumping jack when a cable hit an electrical line.

Laban Robokoff, 24, and Harvey McKinney, 36, both of Midland, were electrocuted and died on the scene. The third victim, Steven McKinney, 32, of Midland, was flown to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Steven McKinney is improving and is expected to be released in a few days, according to the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.

The men were working for Rayco Pumping Unit Services out of Midland. OSHA is now investigating the accident.
