LUBBOCK, TX - Congressman Beto O'Rourke, a candidate for U.S. Senate, made a campaign stop in Lubbock on Sunday.
The El Paso Democrat represents Texas's 16th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The congressman spoke to a group of supporters at the Tornado Gallery, downtown, in the Depot District.
O'Rourke announced in late March he plans to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Ted Cruz in 2018.
"Congressman O'Rourke's visit to Lubbock is indicative of the rise in local Democratic party activity throughout the South Plains," said Lubbock County Democratic Party Chairman Stuart Williams in a news release.
The congressman also made a campaign stop in Plainview on Saturday.
