Walter Williams to Keynote FMI Public Speaker Series

The Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University’s Public Speaker Series, featuring Walter E. Williams as its keynote.

Thursday (Oct. 5). Book signing – 5:15 p.m.; public lecture – 6 p.m.

EVENT:          
Walter E. Williams is the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics at George Mason University and a syndicated columnist and author. His work appears frequently on Townhall.com, WND, Jewish World Review and hundreds of newspapers across the country, including the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
 
A member of the George Mason faculty since 1980, he has authored more than 150 works that have appeared in scholarly journals, as well as 10 books, including “The State Against Blacks,” which was later made into the documentary on PBS, “Good Intentions.”
 
It will be the second appearance in Lubbock for Williams, who was here in 2013. He will deliver remarks regarding the role of government in a free society and reflect on current events and recent developments in public policy debates.
 
He will be available to greet visitors and sign books in the SUB Courtyard prior to the lecture and will have copies of three of his books available for purchase.
 
The book signing and public lecture are free and open to the public. Complementary parking will be available on a first come, first served basis after 5 p.m. in the band lot (R11) on the south side of the SUB. Overflow parking will be available in Park-and-Pay spaces in lot R03 on the west side of the band lot and lot RO7 between the SUB and Administration Building.
