Wanted in Lubbock: Sex Offender and Mexican Mafia Member

Update: Suspect captured

LUBBOCK, TX - The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office released information on Thursday about Ruben Ortiz Jr, 48, of Lubbock.  On Friday, LCSO announced that Ortiz was captured. 

“Ruben Ortiz is a member of the Mexican Mafia. In addition to his warrant, he is wanted for questioning in reference to an Aggravated Sexual Assault,” LCSO said. “He was previously convicted of Indecency with a child.”

Ortiz was described as 195 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was also described as having multiple tattoos. 

On Friday, LCSO said Ortiz was found in the 4400 block of Avenue Q.  He was arrested without incident.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office needs your help finding 48-year-old Ruben Ortiz Jr, wanted for failure to register as a Sex Offender.
 
Ruben Ortiz is a member of the Mexican Mafia. In addition to his warrant, he is wanted for questioning in reference to an Aggravated Sexual Assault. He was previously convicted of Indecency with a child.
 
Ortiz, has a multitude of tattoos. On his left forearm is a large scorpion as well as a Aztec calendar covering his back. Subject is considered armed & dangerous. Do not approach. If seen, call law enforcement immediately:
