LUBBOCK, TX -- The High Plains Underground Water Conservation District will hold public hearings on proposed rules for the use of groundwater in Lubbock and all or portions of 16 counties. Many of the proposed rules pertain to farming – such as a prohibition on double-cropping. However, some of the rules pertain to everyone – such as a requirement to avoid wasting water and another requirement to avoid the contamination of groundwater.
The first hearing will be July 29 at 3:00 pm in the Mallet Event Center, 2320 U.S. Highway 385 in Levelland. The second hearing will be August 5 at 3:00 pm in the Kuhlman Center, 200 North Brown Road in Canyon.
