WICHITA FALLS, TX -- Emergency crews responded to an accident Wednesday after a car hit a tree and burst into flames.

The accident occurred just after 1:00 Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 Block of the Central Expressway East.

WFPD Officer Brandie Banda says the driver of the red Ford Fusion lost control while driving south, near the U.S. Highway 281 and U.S. Highway 287 split.

Banda says the car went across the median and slammed into a tree. The driver jumped out as fire caught and quickly started spreading.

Banda says the male driver was not injured.
