The driver of an 18-wheeler was headed northbound on Highway 277 when he attempted to take the Pine Street exit, but made the turn too wide.
When the driver attempted to correct the maneuver, the weight of the pipes on the trailer bed shifted, causing the trailer to flip three times, according to witnesses.
The 18-wheeler landed on its roof as pipes scattered across the median.
Emergency personnel arrived expecting a possible extraction, but the driver was able to crawl out of the cab on his own. He initially refused medical attention, but friends talked him into going and he was transferred to the hospital with minor injuries.
