ANDREWS COUNTY, TX - A Hobbs man was killed in a three vehicle crash in Andrews County early Friday morning.
The accident occurred on Farm-to-Market Road 1788, approximately 16 miles south of Seminole, around 3:30 a.m.
According to the DPS, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling south on FM 1788. Two semi-trucks, a Freightliner being followed by a Peterbilt, were traveling north on the highway.
Authorities said the pickup truck struck a horse that was in the roadway. The horse's body then crashed into the second semi-truck.
The driver of the pickup truck lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, and collided with the first semi-truck.
The DPS identified the driver of the pickup as Gary L. Heady, 60, of Hobbs, New Mexico. Mr. Heady was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.
The drivers of both semi-trucks were transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews for non-incapacitating injuries.
