Hobbs Police Investigating Multi-Vehicle Crash

HOBBS, NM (PRESS RELEASE) -- On 7/18/2014 at approximately 10:21pm Hobbs Police Officers responded to a multivehicle traffic crash with injuries that occurred on the Lovington Highway in the vicinity of Jack Gomez Boulevard. Witnesses advised a white Dodge pickup, bearing Arizona plates, was travelling northbound swerving all over the lanes of the highway.  The white Dodge pickup travelled northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic and struck a red Chrysler passenger car, driven by 44-year-old Priscilla Mungia of Hobbs, NM, head on. Mungia was transported to Lea Regional Hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.  A six-year-old child passenger in Mungia’s vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The child’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. 

A third vehicle driven by 65-year-old Antonio Ramirez of Lovington, NM struck the white Dodge pickup after the initial head on collision.  No injuries were reported by Ramirez or the passenger in his vehicle.

A passenger in the white Dodge pickup was identified as 34- year-old Shane Betselie of Bloomfield, NM was transported to Lubbock, Texas for advanced medical care related to his life threatening injuries. The driver of the white Dodge pickup is identified as 27-year-old Keevisen James Gould of Red Valley, Arizona. DWI is suspected and charges are pending at this time.
