LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) - A half dozen New Mexico police officers will spend Thanksgiving away from their families to help others.
Six Las Cruces police officers are headed to Puerto Rico on Friday. The volunteers will assist with law enforcement duties in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
The Category 4 hurricane struck the island back in September. The officers are expected to return to Las Cruces on Nov. 25.
