MIDLAND, TX -- A man accused of murder and attempted murder in Midland was caught Monday evening near Comstock after a two-day manhunt. The Border Patrol arrested Carl Wiley, 48, according to a news release. Authorities said Wiley was in a stolen car and he shot at officers, but no one was hurt.

Police said Wiley shot and killed Latonya Lucille Anders, 41, and shot and critically wounded Curtis Ray Stinnett, 52.

Wiley was charged with murder and attempted murder.

He had been spotted earlier in the day before his arrest near Sanderson and officials said he led Border Patrol and local law enforcement on a brief vehicle pursuit.

Officials then said, “A massive manhunt is underway for Wiley in that region at this time and he is being considered as armed and dangerous.”

Not long after that he was found a second time and captured.
