Odessa Teen Shooting, Suspect Arrested

ODESSA, TX -- An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting of a teenager Monday in Odessa. On Tuesday Emily Mata, 25, voluntarily came to the Odessa Police Department to meet with investigators.  Police said Alex Reyna, 18, was badly injured.

An arrest warrant was obtained against Mata for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony. Mata was arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Here is Monday's news release from the Odessa Police Department:

Early Monday morning, officers responded to the 1300 block of Lindberg in reference to a gunshot victim. Investigation revealed that an Alex Reyna, 18 years of age, had been shot. Reyna was transported to Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers notified the Crimes Against Persons, Robbery/Homicide Unit, who responded to the scene.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. At this time, investigators are searching for Emily Mata, date of birth 03/18/1992, who is considered a person of interest.
