PECOS COUNTY, TX -- A police chase Monday in Pecos and Crockett Counties ended with the death of a suspect, Clinton Bart Hosford.

“He [Hosford] had an altercation in Crockett County; he ended up over here in Pecos county,” said Pecos County Sheriff Cliff Harris.

Sheriff Harris said at the end of the chase Hosford was surrounded by officers and pulled a gun. Officers fired. Other than Hosford no one was injured in the chase.

Harris said, “He and his girlfriend got in a fight [in Crockett County] and he shot at her vehicle and everything else.”

During the chase Harris said Hosford tried to run a woman off the road.

Initially Hosford was able to get away. Officers found his abandoned truck and began a search that included dogs, horses and a helicopter. Eventually they found Hosford walking along the side of a road where the final confrontation took place.
