LUBBOCK, TX -- An 11-year-old boy is recovering in a Lubbock hospital after the Stamford Police Chief said his step-father shot and critically wounded him. According to bigcountryhomepage.com the boy’s grandmother said he underwent successful surgery Wednesday morning and his prognosis is good.

Michael Quiñónez, 24, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to the Jones County Jail. The Stamford police said Quiñónez was upset because the boy was bringing cigarettes to his mother as she had asked. Quiñónez objected according to police.
