According to the DPS, a black pickup being driven by 45-year-old Adalberto Chopa, of Wichita Falls, crossed the center line while traveling eastbound along U.S. Highway 82.
The black pickup caught on fire and forced a red pickup to run off the highway.
17-year-old Lacy Mullings and 23-year-old Cody Goss, both from Maud, Oklahoma, were in the red pickup that ran off the highway.
Chopa, Mullings and Goss all died at the accident scene.
A 31-year-old woman from Mexico was also in the black pickup that caught fire. She was pinned under a trailer and flown by medical helicopter to United Regional in Wichita Falls. She remains in critical condition.
Investigators worked to clear the scene and find out why the truck crossed the center lane caused the deadly accident.
After being closed for more than five hours, TxDOT reopened Highway 82 near Dundee in both directions.
