AUSTIN (Nexstar) - The use for drones is expanding and Texas companies are showcasing the impact they're having across the state.
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) organized an event in downtown Austin with a mix of Texas-based and national companies making use of drones in various ways. They showcased how drones are used when responding to natural disasters and gathering data.
Hangar Technology is one of the companies who presented at the exhibit. The company's CEO, Jeff DeCoux, says drones are a critical object when monitoring infrastructure.
"The more data you're able to put into systems, the more insights you're able to get out," DeCoux said. "You can make and capture a bridge repeatedly the same way you can start detecting things like the degradation of that bridge over time and know when it has to be maintenanced, repaired or replaced."
Other exhibitors at the event were Intel and DroneSense.
