Evans Middle School Assistant Principal Lori Stephens was recently notified that she has been selected by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Board of Directors (TASSP) as the middle school principal of the year for the entire state of Texas.
Candidates for Assistant Principal of the Year are selected based upon the excellence they have demonstrated in the following areas: professional growth and development, collaborative leadership, instruction and assessment, letters of recommendation and the interview with committee members.
TASSP Executive Director Archie McAfee said, "Lori's written application and professional reputation convinced the committee that she was the best candidate to represent the quality school administrators leading Texas secondary schools." The committee's decision was unanimous.
Evans Principal Flo Touchstone said, "Lori has a great rapport with students as well as with teachers. Everybody at our campus knows that if you need something, go to Lori, she'll get it done. She's such a champion and a cheerleader for education--and her enthusiasm is contagious."The state honor entitles Stephens to be considered for the National Association of Secondary School Principals Assistant Principal of the Year.
