Texas Tech Fires Mike Leach

A day after Mike Leach and his attorney, Ted Liggett, filed a Motion for Restraining Order and Temporary Injunction, State District Judge Bill Sowder scheduled a hearing for 10:00 a.m. in the 99th District Court.

The hearing never started, because Texas Tech lawyers handed the firing papers to Leach's lawyer.

Texas Tech Athletics Director Gerald Myers and Texas Tech President Guy Bailey handed down Leach's suspension after wide receiver Adam James claimed that Leach mistreated him after James suffered a mild concussion.

Adam James is the son of former SMU running back Craig James, who also played in the NFL and is now an ESPN analyst.

Leach's firing is effective immediately.
