The Dallas Cowboys were in the headlines again Wednesday as they signed Michael Sam to the Cowboys Practice Squad.
Sam the first openly gay player to play in the NFL was cut by the Saint Louis Rams last weekend.
The Cowboys had to cut former Red Raider Will Smith to make room for Sam on the Practice squad. Dallas had 3 seventh round picks in the 2014 draft, and chose not to draft Sam. With pick number 231 they took DE Ben Gardener, with pick 138 they took Will Smith and with the 248th pick they took former Baylor Safety Ahmad Dixon. Sam was taken by the Rams with the very next pick, number 249 overall. Regardless of passing on him on Draft day the cowboys think Sam can have an impact on the Cowboys.
